RAIPUR: An anti-Maoist operation which security forces had launched on Thursday evening following inputs about the presence of Naxals in Aranpur forest is under way in the forests of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. No casualty has been reported in the fire exchange so far, IG Bastar range P Sundarraj said.
IG Sundarraj said a joint squad of CRPF and District Reserve Guards were out on a search operation when an encounter broke out between Maoists and security personnel around 7am in the forests of Muler in Phoolbagdi region. The Maoists retreated into the forest during the gunbattle and the search party was unharmed.
The operation continued to trace injured Maoist cadres if any. Police said they had specific inputs about the presence of Maoists, including senior cadres, in the forest and the search would continue.
